There are many different styles of bunk beds, but how do you find the right one for your child ? Well here is some important information to consider before buying a bunk bed
If you intend to buy a bunk bed online or from a catalog as you are getting a better price it is still a good idea to go to a store and physically check out the bed you are considering. Whilst attractive, metal bunk beds don’t suit some people and you will want to give the bunk bed a good shake to ensure it will be strong enough for your children.
When buying a bunk bed you will want to take account of the size and age of the children who are to use the bunks. There are safety considerations especially with younger children using the top bunk and you will need to consult the manufacturers guidlines or alternatively speak to the store who should be able to give you the correct advice.
Consider purchasing a set of bunk beds that can be taken apart and assembled separately. This feature comes in handy as the children get older and could later serve as guest beds.
Before starting to look for your bunk bed its a good idea to decide on the maximum price you are willing to pay. This will save you time in your search and ensure you don’t get carried away and spend more that you can afford.
There are many different styles of bunk and they can be made from metal or woods so consider beforehand what will fit in best with the decor in your child’s room. This will help you make the right decision when you are looking at a lot of different beds
If you are in the store looking at bunk beds you might not appreciate the space they take up especially if the bottom bunk is a double. So always check the measurements in your room to ensure the bed you buy will fit.
Safety is essential when choosing just the right bunk bed. There should be guardrails on both sides of the top bunk and the one against the wall (opposite the ladder) should run the whole length of the bed. The mattress should fit exactly. The guardrail on the outside should reach at least 5 inches above the top of the mattress. The ladder that matches the set should be sturdy. Also, if you have a ceiling fan in the room, make certain you have measured to determine clearance prior to purchasing a bunk bed.
Always read the instructions before starting to erect your bed and if you decide its too much for you get some help. There is sure to be a local diy person in your area or the supplier may have a delivery and erect service.
Read the warranty before you buy your bunk bed and make sure it covers your requirements. The seller should be able to help you with any queries you have.
If the supplier is going to erect your bed you should not have any problems but if you are putting together the bed yourself the first thing you want to check is that all the parts are as they should be and nothing is missing. If there is something wrong you should speak to the supplier as quickly as possible and ask they rectify the fault or deliver a new bed if it is a major problem.
